AUGUSTA — A Manhattan, New York, man was sentenced Tuesday to spend an initial year behind bars for trafficking in heroin and cocaine base in Augusta.

Eric “Korey” Colbert, 32, pleaded guilty at the Capital Judicial Center to two counts of unlawful trafficking in drugs, both dated July 19, 2016.

The remainder of his six-year sentence was suspended, and he was placed on two years’ probation. Colbert had originally been indicted on 10 separate counts involving drugs and was extradited from New York last March.

The others were dismissed in exchange for his plea.

The prosecutor, Assistant Attorney General Katie Sibley, said the 10 charges were related to three separate incidents.

Colbert allegedly took phone calls and facilitated various drug transactions.

Conditions of probation prohibit Colbert from having contact with six co-defendants. Colbert has prior drug convictions in New York state and was represented by attorney Donald Hornblower on Tuesday.
