The pharmacy at the Hannaford supermarket in South China was reportedly robbed at 7:45 p.m. Monday, according to the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
A white man in his 20s gave a note to a worker at the pharmacy counter and demanded opiate-based medication, received some, and left the store, according to a press release issued Tuesday by Sheriff Ryan Reardon. The robber didn’t display a weapon and police are still investigating, the release said.
The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a baseball cap, sunglasses, blue gloves and light colored sneakers. The sweatshirt had a white colored logo on the front left breast, according to the sheriff.
The Hannaford is at the corner of routes 3 and 32 in South China.
