A man whose driver’s license has been suspended several times since 2008 was arrested Thursday by Maine State Police, who say he was driving a vehicle with two young children in the rear seat.

Ryan P. Desmond, 31, of Lyman was arrested by Trooper Doug Cropper after he pulled into his driveway on Howitt Road at 1:40 p.m. Cropper knew that Desmond’s license was under suspension.

Desmond was charged with driving after license suspension and endangering the welfare of two children. The children are nine months and two years old.

“Desmond’s license has been suspended since 2008 and he has six active suspensions,” state police said in a statement posted on Facebook Thursday evening.

Desmond was taken to the York County Jail, where his bail was set at $660 cash.
