CARRABASSETT VALLEY — Two Farmington women were arrested on drug charges Monday during a traffic stop on Route 27, police said.

Sherice Pillsbury, 27, of Farmington, and Sarah Copeland, 30, of Farmington, were arrested on charges of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, among other charges, according to a news release from Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols.

Police stopped a car on Route 27 on a suspicion that the registered owner’s license was suspended. Police found that the driver, Pillsbury, was not the registered owner of the car, but her license also was under suspension, according to Nichols. She was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle after a suspension, a class E misdemeanor.

While searching the vehicle, police found prescription pills that didn’t belong to either Pillsbury or Copeland, Nichols said in a phone interview.

Police arrested the pair on charges of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, a class E misdemeanor.

When Pillsbury arrived at the jail, she was found to be carrying pills, Nichols said in the release. Before she was admitted to intake at the jail, she was charged with two counts of trafficking in prison contraband, a class C misdemeanor.

Both were taken to Franklin County Jail in Farmington. Pillsbury posted her cash bail of $350, as did Copeland, who was held on a $250 cash bail.
